Joaquim Chissano, President of Mozambique, to visit UNESCO May 7

The President of the Republic of Mozambique and of the African Union, Joaquim Chissano, will make an official visit to UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on Friday, May 7.

Upon his arrival (3 p.m.) President Chissano will be welcomed by UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura, with whom he will hold a brief meeting.

The President will then give a speech on “Peace and Development in Africa” in the presence of Yvette Rabetafika Ranjeva (Madagascar), President of the African Group of countries, the Director-General of UNESCO and Ambassadors and Permanent Delegates to the Organization (Room XI, 4.30 p.m.).

Journalists who wish to attend must be accredited by UNESCO’s Press Relations Section before 12 midday, May 6.
