17-01-2002 12:00 am KABUL (Kyodo) The secretary general of UNESCO is calling for immediate action to preserve Afghanistan's cultural heritage. "A number of valuable cultural pieces are just sitting in plain boxes at a damaged museum in Kabul. It is necessary to promptly setup a system to store them securely," Koichiro Matsuura said in a recent interview.
