More than fifty years after the creation of the first UNESCO Club, the Organization has today the privilege to count on the action of almost 3600 Clubs in 90 countries.

Conscious of the growing role of civil society in decision-making relating to public life, the UNESCO Medium- Term Strategy 2002-2007 underlines the unique role that UNESCO Clubs, Centres, and Associations can play in education to achieve sustainable development, in cooperation with other partners of civil society.
