Nurturing the democratic debate.  
03-04-2003 10:30 am Paris – The President of Senegal Abdoulaye Wade, will visit UNESCO on Tuesday April 8 and address the 166th session of the Organization’s Executive Board, (April 4 to 16) at the invitation of the Board’s Chairperson, Aziza Bennani (Morocco).
The Senegalese President will take the floor at 3 p.m. (Room X). Director-General Ko´chiro Matsuura will award a UNESCO medal to the President on this occasion.

The President of Senegal is due to meet the Director-General at 2.30 pm., before addressing the Executive Board.

President Abdoulaye Wade, a former professor at the University of Dakar and former Dean of its Faculty of Law and Economics, was born in 1926 in Saint-Louis (Senegal). He was elected president in March 2000.

The Executive Board numbers 58 members, elected by UNESCO’s General Conference.
