OriginIn 1980, at its 21st session, the General Conference approved the creation of the Executive Committee of the International Campaign for the establishment of the Nubia Museum in Aswan and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo (21 C/Res.4/11).
Mission of the CommitteeTo advise the Director-General on all questions which may arise in the course of the operations for the establishment of the museums in Aswan and Cairo, particularly on the preservation of the international character of the enterprise and the co-ordination of work, on the appropriation of sums from the Trust Fund to be established for this purpose, on promotional activities.
CompositionThe Council consists of 15 Member States appointed for a term of office of 2 years, renewable until the completion of the project.
