33rd UNESCO General Conference. The genuine role of education is that of empowering young people and adults in a process of lifelong learning. The core of education for sustainable development is a vision of education that seeks to balance human and economic well-being with cultural traditions and respect for the earth’s natural resources.
We therefore fully support UNESCO as the leading agency for promoting the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014).
