Community Development Centres for social and psychological rehabilitation |
|
| |
The Soviet Union tried to tackle the Chernobyl disaster on its own for more than three years, but after the break-up of the old regime in 1990, the newly-independent states realised they could not cope alone. |
|
The main objectives of the Community Centres are to :
- encourage people to take control over their lives and express themselves
- improve the psychological well-being of all age and social groups
- promote problem-solving ability
- develop confidence and social responsibility
- contribute to local development through community initiatives
- develop social and psychological practice in the three countries
- act as models for new Community Centres
