    John Daniel, Assistant Director-General for Education, has been awarded the Government of Canada' s medal to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee. These medals were awarded in 2002 to Canadians who have played a notable role in the development of Canada over the 50 years of the Queen's reign. Mr Daniel's citation was ' in recognition of his pioneering leadership and vision in the development of open and distance education at home and abroad, and his commitment to excellence in education as Assistant Director-General for Education with UNESCO  


    John Daniel receives award
    2002-07-28 10:00 pm - UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, John Daniel, was awarded the Commonwealth of Learning Excellence in Distance Education Award during a prizegiving ceremony held during the 2nd Pan-Commonwealth Forum on Open Learning in Durban, South Africa on 1 August. This award is recognition of John Daniel's lifetime contributions to the development of open and distance education world-wide. In 1995, he was the recipient of a joint COL/ICDE Award of Excellence.
