Argentina has been part of UNESCO since September 15, 1948.
Buenos Aires houses the regional headquarters of the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), whose main fields of activity are training, research and the dissemination of concepts, methods and techniques relating to educational planning.
The 2005 Education For All Global Monitoring Report places Argentina number 23 out of a list of 127 countries in terms of its overall fulfilment of the Dakar objectives. As of September 2006, the country has 116 schools participating in UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet).
