Cambodia joined UNESCO on July 3, 1951. The opening of the UNESCO Office Phnom Penh, in 1991, contributed to the strengthening of cooperation between Cambodia and UNESCO. Cambodia participates in EDUCAIDS, a UNESCO-led response to HIV and AIDS.
This initiative aims to address the impact of HIV/AIDS, prevent the spread of HIV and support education systems related to HIV/AIDS learning environments.
Cambodia has two UNEVOC centres and 21 schools participating in UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet).
