Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship training is a necessary part of any TVET curriculum. It equips TVET graduates with skills which enable them to engage in income-generating activities. In this way, it helps develop their community’s economy, encourages self-reliance and can be a good opportunity to promote growth and profitability of traditional crafts and industries. |

UNESCO together with the Commonwealth of Learning has developed a modular entrepreneurship curriculum for Pacific Island countries to equip unemployed and out of school youth for livelihoods in the informal economy.
The training module consists of three parts:
Adaptation Guide for the Delivery Institution – A guide for institutions has been designed to introduce enterprise education into the local curriculum.
Tutor’s pack – A second guide has been designed for use by teachers to impart the skills effectively.
Participant’s Workbook –This workbook helps teach, develop and cement the important concepts of enterprise education in the minds of students and workers.
This leaning package was endorsed by the representatives of the following Pacific Island countries: Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu and is being field-tested. With some adaptation, the package may be useful to countries in other regions wishing to promote entrepreneurship in the informal economy. |
