While much progress has been made recently in achieving universal primary education in several Arab States, there are still a few where this goal remains elusive. There are still more than 7 million children in Arab States who have not been to school or have dropped out early. In 2000, at the Regional Cairo EFA Conference and the Global Dakar EFA Conference, Arab States renewed their commitment to provide Education for All.
