RecQualif MEDA

Towards the Establishment of a Mediterranean Network for the Recognition of Qualifications and Quality Assurance

This pilot project, funded through the European Union Tempus–MEDA programme, aims to prepare a regional network for information exchange on the recognition of qualifications and quality assurance. This information network responds to the recommendations of the Intergovernmental Committee for the application of the UNESCO International Convention on the Recognition of Studies, Diploma and Degrees in Higher Education in the Arab and European States bordering on the Mediterranean at its 6th session in January 2002.

This project proposes an activity in Member States of the Mediterranean Convention. The Project Consortium consists of insititutions nominated at the national level to participate in this project from the following Arab States in the Southern Mediterranean: Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia. It also includes institutions nominated to participate in this project at the national level in France, Italy and Slovenia from the Northern Mediterranean. The Netherlands ENIC-NARIC (NUFFIC) and the Council of Europe, which provide substantive inputs based on their expertise in this field, are also part of the Project Consortium. A summery of project activities is available in the project outline section of this website.

This initiative represents a first step in both the Southern and Northern Mediterranean countries in establishing strong links between quality assurance and recognition issues
