Millions of children are excluded from their right to basic education and particularly to primary education. Access to primary education is still hampered by many factors, such as geographical location, income differentiation and social status. The goal of universal primary education is an integral part of UNESCO’s wider development efforts and has an inclusive purpose. In this context, the strategy pursued by UNESCO aims to promote the right to education for all children, especially those who are marginalized and excluded, and ensure that none of them suffer any form of discrimination in their access to education.
