  Objectives
The Global Forum on International Quality Assurance, Accreditation and the Recognition of Qualifications responds to the growing demands of the international community to have UNESCO proactive in the debates borderless higher education and trade in higher education in frameworks such as the GATS as well and the related key issues of quality and recognition. The Global Forum reflects UNESCO’s mission to respond to the ethical challenges of globalization.

The objective of the Global Forum is to provide a platform for dialogue between international frameworks dealing with quality assurance, accreditation and the recognition of qualifications.

Preserving the quality of higher education and protecting/empowering the learner are central to the work of the Global Forum.

Global Forum activities focus on UNESCO's standard-setting, capacity-building and information dissemination functions:

• Standard-setting activities - exploring policy issues related to cross-border providers of higher education; review of the regional/inter-regional conventions on the recognition of qualifications

• Capacity building/ Information activities - research and analytical studies on the impact of new higher education developments in different regions; training workshop and elaboration of tools to inform stakeholders on recent developments in higher education
