 Home --- Activities

The primary focus of the activities in 2002-03 is the establishment and proper functioning of an International Clearinghouse on Curriculum for HIV/AIDS Preventive Education. Related to this, IBE organized an International Expert workshop in June 2003 for appraising HIV/AIDS prevention curricular materials and teaching-learning resources (see below for more details)

The second focus concerns HIV/AIDS-related capacity building. The project aims to train curriculum-related professionals at regional levels, as well as trainers from various contexts, so that they can themselves bring about changes in the available curricula for schools and in institutional training courses in various contexts. A first capacity seminar building took place in Swaziland in November 2003, with 9 participating countries from Southern Africa (see below for more details).

IBE also contributed to UNESCO preparation for the upcoming International AIDS conference in Bangkok in 2004 (see below for more details)

To realize these activities, the IBE is collaborating with UNAIDS co-sponsors, several UNESCO offices and Institutes in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Central and Latin America, as well as with other experts in curriculum development all over the world.
