The IBE seeks to strengthen the impact of its International Clearinghouse on Curriculum for HIV/AIDS Prevention through establishing partnerships with other institutions working to combat HIV/AIDS through education.
In February 2003, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Interactive Health Network (IHN) based in London, UK. The IHN is a non-governmental organization which uses Information and Communication Technologies (ITCs) to achieve health equity world-wide.
IHN has a strong emphasis on medical education and information for health and development. Its target audience includes health professionals, teachers, students and the general public. IHN will be shortly launching its HIV/AIDS database which will focus on digitised health education resources appropriate for educators, school students and lower level health workers in Africa. This database is funded by DfiD Imfundo and will also become part of the Imfundo Knowledge Bank.
Through the Memorandum of Understanding IBE and IHN will seek to:
Reinforce the performance and impact of their HIV/AIDS programmes
Develop, implement and disseminate assessment and evaluation strategies for HIV/AIDS education materials
Jointly make these materials available though numerous networks including Internet, World Space and analogue radio. |
