The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is a system of 12 colleges in six centers in the United Arab Emirates that provides post-secondary programmes. The Communication Technology programme through its Higher Diploma Programme in Applied Media Studies; its Graphic Arts programme; its Graphics/CAD Diploma Programme ; its new General Media Certificate Program , and its Bachelor of Applied Science in Communication and Media Management programme, has for goal “the development of a National media with a National voice”. Graduates of the Applied Media Studies programme will be "media generalists" with a sound grounding in the theoretical and practical aspects of the full range of media and a further specialisation in Journalism, Electronic Media Production or Graphic design.Graduates of the Graphic Arts programme will demonstrate a combination of visual sensitivity with computer and technical skills, and knowledge in areas of design production, technology and business.Along with these programmes the Communication Technology Division is developing other design programmes at the Diploma and Higher Diploma levels. Programmes under consideration include: Advertising and Promotions; Digital Imaging Technician Operator; Fashion/Textile Design; Interior Design; and Multi-media / Animation.
