Being devoted to the development of music and its creators, the company organizes an annual event, «Des Musiques et du Monde», which encourages the cross-fertilization of musical styles, cultures and aesthetics of different origins. Musique Multi-Montréal contributes to the development of repertory and contemporary creation through the order of works, rehearsals and real-life situations. It is well known for the quality of its musical programmes and its rich variety of musicians. The institution collaborates with different partners, artists and broadcasters, mainly in Québec but also in Western Canada. Working conditions: creative work with local artists, meetings with the leading figures in the sector of «world music » in Montréal (composers, performers and interpreters in the «world scene»), access to technical and artistic resources. Musique Multi-Montréal is not a school. This institution is meant for professional and autonomous artists. Nature of bursary: return ticket, accommodation in an individual apartment, monthly allowance of 2,000 Canadian dollars, contacts arranged with many leading professionals in the cultural circles of Québec. The laureate must provide his/her own health insurance. The artist will have to assure her/his own expense from the bursary given to her/him for costs incurred in rehearsals and in broadcasting her/his work. Dates of residency: to be fixed by mutual agreement between 1 February (at the latest on 20 February) and May (or mid-June) 2007. Eligibility: professional artist. Priority will be given to artists coming from Asia. The artist should be interested by research and musical creation inspired as much by traditional world heritage as by contemporary urban reality. Working knowledge of French required.
