World Summit Youth Award (WSYA) - call for entries

Young designers and e-Content creators (under 30) from around the world are invited to develop inspiring Internet content to promote and achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Their projects may be submitted in the five following categories:

  • Fight Poverty, Hunger and Disease;
  • Education for All;
  • Power 2 Women;
  • Create your Culture;
  • Go Green.

An international jury of experts will evaluate the projects, determining three winners for each category.

Winners will be given the opportunity to showcase their platform to heads of state, business leaders and civil society at the World Summit Award (WSA) Gala and Winners Conference in June, 2009 in Monterrey, Mexico.

Deadline: 28th February 2008.

  • Points of the 1997 Declaration related to this subject:
    - Paragraph 18: (...) New means of private funding, from major foundations to small companies, must be encouraged as supplementary sources of funds, particularly with a view to supporting the creation, the expression and the dissemination of contemporary works.
    - Paragraph 19: Public and private funding sources are invited to respond favourably to requests made by artists in developing countries or countries in transition. UNESCO’s intervention is particularly necessary in order to identify and publicize existing opportunities for private funding of the arts worldwide.
