Summary of the activities
The Pharmaceutical Society of Barcelona - named “Col·legi Oficial de Farmacèutics de Barcelona”, a non-profit institution, publish in the Internet materials about health promotion and disease prevention addressed to the children (ex: first aid kit, minor wounds, washing your hands, lice, summer stings, caries, etc.).

One of our aims is to offer high quality contents and games so children could learn hygienic behaviours and healthy rules, while playing. In 2002, the project was awarded a Netd@ys label, an initiative of the European Commission.

Now we have adapted the website to the multicultural environment of the schools. It has been designed an
application, named “language’s syrup”, in 19 languages (German, English, Arabic, Basque, Bulgarian, Spanish, Catalan, French, Galician, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Rumanian, Russian, Tagalog, Ukrainian, Urdu, Wolof and Chinese).

The goal is to make easier the apprenticeship of vocabulary in the health area to immigrant students, to facilitate children in expressing themselves about health subjects, without losing
the connection with the mother language. There are diferent options. Playing, for example, with the “memory game”, when the child identify two equal images, the screen present the word in 19 different languages. That way the child has the word in his native language and also in the language of the new school.
