The rights of authors, performers, publishers, broadcasters, and many others whose livelihoods depend upon the recognition of rights in intellectual property, particularly of copyright, are too often ignored by persons intentionally, deliberately, and systematically attempting to profit from the creations of others. |

 In a field as complex as that of intellectual property, it is no doubt true that some people do not fully understand the rights of others, and thus may at times negligently infringe copyright. But piracy, properly understood, derives entirely from a wilful determination not to respect those rights.
