UNESCO General and Regional Histories

The General and Regional Histories count among UNESCO’s main achievements. They are the result of more than fifty years of international cooperation between 1,800 renowned scholars from all over the world. Aimed at providing readers with deeper knowledge of cultural and scientific development, shared values and common heritage of humanity, the Histories consist of a total of 51 volumes, presented in six collections. To mark their completion, UNESCO organizes a major event on the 5 and 6 October 2009 for the promotion of the published volumes.
