2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Heritage becoming operational

After two years of intense work by the Intergovernmental Committee, the Operational Directives of the 2003 Convention are ready for consideration by the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention when it meets in Paris (16-19 June). Once these Directives are approved by the General Assembly, the 2003 Convention—already ratified by almost 100 Member States—becomes fully operational, and international cooperation to safeguard the world’s intangible heritage enters a new dimension!
