Long Description The first museum devoted to Egyptian civilization, NMEC will be situated on the archaeological site of El Fustat, in Cairo. It will be the only museum in Egypt to present the full range of the richness and diversity of Egyptian civilization throughout the ages, from prehistoric times to present day. Moreover, it will be the very first of its kind and of this scale in the entire Arab world. Its exceptional collections will be drawn from the Egyptian National Collections.

NMEC is a project directed by the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt with the technical support from UNESCO. The construction of the building was entrusted to the Egyptian architect Dr El Ghazzali Kosseiba and the Japanese interior designer Arata Isozaki.
