VIth International Encounter on Management of Historic Centres

 (Havana - Cuba)

    This encounter coincides with the celebrations of the XXVth anniversary of the World Heritage Convention and of the following inscriptions on the UNESCO World Heritage List: Old Havana and its Fortifications (Cuba), the Historic Centre of the Town of Olinda (Brazil) and the National History Park-Citadel, Sans Souci, Ramiers, (Haiti).

    An international panel convenes in Havana bringing together key experts and regional representatives from each site. The participants focus on "25 years in the World Heritage, goals and challenges" and discuss the following points:

    • What has the World Heritage Convention meant to the country and to specific sites?
    • Main goals and evolution achieved after 25 years of being listed as a World Heritage Site.

    This event is organized by the UNESCO Office in Havana with the collaboration of the UNESCO Offices in Brasilia and Port-au-Prince.
