Manga, J-pop, video games, fashion – Japanese pop culture is adored by international youth. In recent years, these new forms of expression have become essential components of an innovative cultural policy called "Soft Power". An international symposium brings together eminent researchers from France, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Singapore, who analyze the Japanese policies and speak about the situation in their own countries. They approach this subject from several angles: pop culture and Japanese diplomacy, current cultural policy in our globalized era as well as examining the "mechanisms" of the promotion of Japanese pop culture.
