Theater and Audiovisual Arts, an innovative approach to HIV and AIDS in Latin America and the Caribbean 

Organized within the framework of the Culture HIV and AIDS project, this regional workshop is a multidisciplinary space for the exchange of experiences and for the assessment of arts-based methodologies using socio-cultural approaches to making people sensitive to HIV and AIDS issues.

It will also assess the impact of artistic creation awareness-raising in changing individual and social behaviours regarding the pandemic.

Furthermore, the workshop will focus on artistic proposals related to theater and audiovisual approaches (radio, cinema, television and video) with special emphasis on feature and documentary films.
 
Creators and experts from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela will take part in the workshop, which is organized by the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean in Havana with the support of the UNAIDS Office in Jamaica, and, in cooperation with UNESCO Headquarters, several United Nations agencies, and Cuban institutions of the Ministry of Culture and Public Health.
