National Anti-piracy Seminar

This meeting is a follow-up to the sub-regional Anti-piracy Training for Trainers course (APTT), which took place in Windhoek (Namibia) in September 2006.


Approximately 30 participants from different sections of the national copyright enforcement authorities: prosecutors, judges, police and customs are expected to attend.

The participants who took part in the Windhoek APTT Training course will act as panelists and speakers.

The morning session’s main topics for discussion will include:

  • An introduction to the protection of copyright and related rights;
  • International legal frameworks on copyright and related rights;
  • Copyright and Creativity;
  • An introduction to Copyright Enforcement Issues in Malawi;
  • Piracy by Sector, Music and Publishing Industries.

    The afternoon session will consist of two practical training and group workshops, followed by a high-ranking government official leading the participants in an anti-piracy street march for a distance of approximately 2 km.
