International call for participation - Special Session 2006 for teachers and educators
 “Building your own Creative Teaching Practise".
The UNESCO DigiArts Team invites teachers and educators to participate in building their own creative teaching practises based on the Young Digital Creators (YDC) online learning platforms on the theme of Water and HIV and AIDS. 

Timeline :
  • Deadline for registration 6 December 2006
  • Session running from 8 December 2006 – 16 February 2007
  • Selection of best practises 28 February 2007

    Guidelines:
    1) Use the Young Digital Creators Educator's Kit, particularly its second part introducing detailed lesson plans and practical guidelines, to build their own lesson plans according to their own teaching context and specific learning activities related to the chosen topic of either water or HIV/AIDS and customized.

    2) Lead a small group of their students in creating digital productions as a group work using the YDC online applications of either the Sound of our water - http://unesco.uiah.fi/water/ or Youth creating and communicating on HIV and AIDS - http://digiarts-hiv-unesco.org -

    3) Respond to the two questionnaires of the Young Digital Creators Educator's Kit.
    The first questionnaire, the pre-questionnaire, would be for immediate feedback from the teacher users before planning the lessons, where as the second post-questionnaire would be to concretely know how they used the kit in their own creative online learning activities.

    Special invitation
    The UNESCO DigiArts team in collaboration with the organizers of the Sharjah Biennial 8 (4 April - 4 June 2007, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates) will invite a number of the teacher participants of this session to participate in a face-to-face workshop with a professional media artist in building stronger capacities for creative online learning activities. It is also expected to be an excellent occasion to interact with their peer educators from different regions and cultures. the best practises of the session will also be presented at Sharjah Biennial 8. http://www.sharjahbiennial.org/


    General Guidelines to apply:
  • Check the basic requirements to participate in the session: group of students, computers with Windows OS, internet connection.

  • Collaborative participation from more than one educator is highly welcomed.

    What to submit
  • One user name and password of the YDC online application would be distributed to each teacher/educator per group once they have submitted the following materials to digiarts@unesco.org by 6 December 2006:

    - Registration form
    - Short introduction of teachers/educators and group of students including contact information (postal address, telephone number, email address, photo, etc)
  • The expected submissions from participants at the end of the session would be:
    - 1 Digital water sound piece or full participation in making 1 digital triptych on HIV and AIDS
    - Tailor-made lesson plans in the format of a written document (word or pdf) or story board documenting the process of making the digital productions
    - Feedback to the 2 questionnaires on the use of the YDC Educator's Kit (Electronic version available at:

  • The official languages for submission are English and French.
