These young students have been selected from among 61 youth clubs and community centres from 45 countries who took part in the online session (10 May-7 July 2006) devoted to creative digital productions on the theme "Scenes and Sounds of My City". Through this face-to-face workshop, the students will be given additional opportunities to create, share, and exchange their ideas and art works with professional media artists and their young peers from different regions and cultures. They will convert their digital productions into urban installations, which will be displayed in San Jos2’s public spaces during the festival. The main objectives of the workshop are to promote local cultural content development related to media practices and to enable young people to use digital tools as a means of creative expressions when addressing global and local issues such as urbanization. The ISEA is a biannual festival that brings together leading theorists, educators, museum professionals and artists, using new media and technologies for cultural expression. This year, the ISEA has been granted UNESCO’s sponsorship.
