Brazzaville South-South Co-operation Forum on Cultural Industries

February 22-24, 2006, Brazzaville, Congo - This forum brought together civil society and cultural enterprises to develop South-South cooperation between multiple private stakeholders of the creative chain to share know-how and competences.

Organized by the UNESCO Office in Brazzaville, under the patronage of the Minister of Culture and Tourism, in co-operation with the Forum des jeunes entreprises, Congo, the Global Alliance, and in partnership with the Danish Centre for Culture and Development, the Forum 'Developing Panafrican Cultural Synergies' took the form of a workshop so as to give each participant time to analyse its own strengths and needs and to gain understanding on possible pooling of available non-financial resources.

As a member of the Global Alliance, DCCD administrates a support scheme for cultural exchange between Denmark and the developing countries and implements and supports development projects. With the support from DANIDA, the Danish international Development Agency, DCCD has set up the Africa South-South Cultural Exchange Programme 2005-2007 with the objective to strengthen the financial sustainability and income opportunities of creative industries through south-south exchange between the African countries South of Sahara.
