The 11th annual WOMEX event is traveling this year to the UK for the first time. The theme will be ‘A commonwealth of Music’ which will be reflected in all the expo events, features, showcases, conference, film market, umbrella stands and networking meetings alike.

For anyone and everyone involved in world music, the event has become an important date in the calendar and a useful chance to meet and network with international colleagues. The UK’s relations with country’s around the world make it an ideal venue to explore the capacity of the Commonwealth to support and strengthen their musical heritage.
The Global Alliance plans to attend this event and to present the findings of our research into the major obstacles to sustaining cultural festivals in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific region.
