Preliminary Draft Convention on the Protection of the Diversity of Cultural Contents and Artistic Expressions

With a view to completing the remaining tasks, the Member States recommended that a third Session of Intergovernmental Meeting of Experts be convened (Recommendation). The Executive Board examined this proposal at its 171st session (171EX/44) and authorized the organization of such meeting (Decision 171EX/19).

This final session, which marked the last phase of intergovernmental negotiations, enabled the experts to finalize the text of the preliminary draft convention.

This session adopted a recommendation requesting the General Conference to take into consideration the following title for the Convention: "Preliminary Draft Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions" and to adopt the text at its 33^rd session (October 2005).
