This project is being conducted by the Argentine CEPA Foundation (Centre for Environmental and Studies Projects) and FLACAM (Latin-American Forum of Environmental Sciences). The itinerary, which combines nature, culture, local crafts and rural know-how starts in Buenos Aires Province between cities of La Plata and Mar del Plata and follows several splendid rural tourist circuits: Rio de la Plata, Historical Cities, Lakes and Beaches, and Sea and Mountains. This new tourist and cultural package bears the MERCOSUR stamp because circuits will shortly be opened in Uruguay and Brazil where the gaucho thrives on the pampas. The project aims to: - Preserve and develop the region’s cultural and natural heritage;
- Provide an alternative to "sun and sand" tourism;
- Experiment with sustainable growth;
- Improve management of water, land and biodiversity.
