| UNESCO offers global insight into innovative practices led by candidate cities by including them in an on-line database "The City, Network of Cultures".
Following a decision by the UNESCO Executive Board at it 171st session in April 2005, it has been decided that the UNESCO Cities for Peace Prize will be officially abolished together with 8 other UNESCO Prizes. See the "Report by the Director-General on the Overall Review of UNESCO Prizes" (doc. 171EX/19) The UNESCO Secretariat is therefore no longer accepting applications for the Prize.
