The establishment of the ICC Sub-Committee for Libraries and Archives is part of the follow-up process of recommendation 4 of the First Plenary Session of the ICC in May 2004. It will coordinate activities in regard to reconstruction, rehabilitation and reorganization of libraries and archives in Iraq. The Sub-Committee will be composed of a team based in Baghdad and international organizations working in the fields of libraries and archives (IFLA and ICA, and other UNESCO partners).

The first meeting of the ICC Sub-Committee will take place in early May 2005. At this meeting, the action plan for libraries and archives in Iraq – including short-, medium- and long-term activities - will be finalized.
