Conservation of the Koguryo Tombs and Mural Paintings: Scientific Methodological Approach

UNESCO, in close collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Administration Office held an international symposium on Koguryo Tombs from 25-28 October 2004, Seoul Republic of Korea in order to present the positives results of the UNESCO/Republic of Korea Funds-in-Trust and to discuss the future preservation of these tombs and their mural paintings and provide a platform to specialists of mural paintings (a chemist, engineers and conservators) to share their experience on management and preservation of the similar hypogeal heritage sites. They discussed the future preservation of these tombs and their mural paintings.

Recommendations were adopted by all participants in the closing session of the Symposium.
