Azerbaijani Mugam - Bahram Mansurov, tar

Azeri music is played by developing a melody in a single mode, as in Persian, Arab or Indian music.

It has a directly sensual content and is constructed by improvising with in precise rules with all the warmth to which we are accustomed in song. Bahrom Mansurov with his lute was the first player to bring this music to Europe.

Recorded in 1974
Text by Alain Daniélou
