Expertise / Competencies Specialises in music composition and related topics such as instrumentation, ethnomusicology, and music in New Zealand. In composition he is currently undertaking research on music-theatre, sound-image installation, transcription and the integration of "found musics".
Short description As a photographer-composer he has created interactive sound & image installations, which have been commissioned by almost all the major public galleries including the National Gallery, the Auckland City Gallery, the Robert McDougall Gallery, the Dunedin Public Gallery and the Wellington City Gallery.
Bio Jack Body (born in 1944) studied at Auckland University (1963-67). With a QEII Arts Council grant he attended the Ferien Kurse fur Neue Musik, Cologne and Institute of Sonology, Utrecht, Netherlands (1969/70). For two years (1976-77) he was a guest lecturer at the Akademi Musik Indonesia, Yogyakarta, and since 1980 he has lectured at the School of Music, Victoria University of Wellington.

Industrial Relevance Jack has been the editor of Waiteata Music Press since 1980. Waiteata Press is a major publisher of New Zealand music with almost 200 scores, representing over 55 composers. Jack Body received 1st Prize at Bourges for electroacoustic music in 1976, and was awarded the Order of Merit of New Zealand for services to music in 2001.
