FADON

Mr Carlos FADON

São Paulo (Brazil), 1945. Lives in São Paulo (Brasil). Digital Image, multimedia.

Bio
Fadon graduated in Engineering from the Escola Politécnica (1968) and in the Plastic Arts from the Escola de Comunicações e Artes (1982) of the University of São Paulo. He then obtained a Masters in Visual Arts at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1989).
The condition of the technically-produced image as a system of presenting realities, as well as his photographic essays on the urban landscape, have occupied Fado since he began to work in photography in 1975. His interest in the synergy between art and technology – the fruit of his training – materialized in 1985 when he first used digital imaging as a complex system of constructing and manipulating representations. In 1987 he began a series of interactive experiments using telecommunications based on the theme of intercultural dialogues.
From that moment onwards, the field of research systematically broadened, with the development hypermedia pieces and, especially, exploration of the collaboration between human beings and machinery. The body of his work, an amalgam of expression and experimentation, is characterized by its conceptual consistency and poetic cohesion, as in the photographic essay “Medium” (1991-2000) and the dialogue structures of the “LAPIS/X” project (1999).
His work is exhibited internationally, in individual shows, public and private collections, events, collective samples, conferences and different publications.
