TRILNICK

Mr Carlos TRILNICK

Rosario (Argentina), 1957. Lives in Buenos Aires (Argentina). Video, Installation, Internet.

Bio
Trilnick began his artistic career in the mid-seventies with photography. He travelled to Israel to experience Kibbutz life and obtained a degree in Design, Photography and Video at the Nery Bloomfield School of Design in Haifa (1982).
On his return to Argentina in the eighties he made a number of documentaries, including “Subte Línea D” (1983), “Alfredo Hlito obra pictórica” (Alfredo Hlito pictorial work) (1987) and “Ennio Iomi, no perder la memoria” (1993), as well as video creations such as “Five seconds” (1982), “Nostalgias del presente” (Present-day nostalgias) (1991) and “Una tarde” (One afternoon) (2000). In the latter work Trilnick searches for literary references – a feature in a number of his works –, with Samuel Beckett’s similarly named short story serving as the basis on which the artist develops a balanced mixture of videographic experimentation and literary narrative.
He also produced video installations such as “Domestic audience” (1982), “Ascenso-descenso-realidad-ilusión”(Rise-fall-reality-illusion) (1985) and ”Ciudad satélite” (Satellite city) (1986).
His works are in museums and galleries, including The Museum of Modern Art, New York; Museu da Imagem e do Som, São Paulo; CICV, Montbéliard, France; and the Montevideo Cinemateca, Uruguay: His works for the Internet include “Moraleja” (1996) and “Acto de fé” (1999). He currently co-directs the “Fin del Mundo – arte actual desde Argentina” (End of the World – current art from Argentina) website, created in 1996. He teaches at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urban Development at the University of Buenos Aires.
