HEAVY INDUSTRIES

Ms Chang Young-Hae y Marc Voge HEAVY INDUSTRIES

Seoul (Republic of Korea),1999. Live in Seoul (South Korea). Internet.

Bio
The works for the Internet by the Young-Hae/Voge duo (Heavy Industries) often consist of sentences that appear fleetingly on the screen accompanied by a soundtrack.
Works that they have created since 1999 include “Rain on The Sea”, “The End”, “Rivera”, “All Fall Down”, “Artist’s statement no.45 730,944”, “The Struggle” and “Dakota”. The latter is based on Ezra Pound’s poems, “Cantos 1 and 2”, and is a text reproducing conversations between the narrator and his friends on the subject of death. Each word making up the text appears on the screen with a specific size and for a specific duration, always accompanied by a soundtrack.
The works of Heavy Industries can be found on their website, for which they received an honourable mention at the SFMoMA Webby Awards (2000).
A year later they received a grant from the New York Foundation for Contemporary Performance Arts (US).
