Digital Arts

Activities in favour of creativity are aimed first and foremost at young people and artists. The main emphasis in all fields is on artistic education and encouragement of networks of artists in which nongovernmental organizations and international exchanges involve millions of creative persons, artists and performers all over the world.

The UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of the Arts, the Organization’s support for festivals and the tools supplied to artists and political decision-makers, including a number of websites, are a clear indication of its firm commitment to the arts. World Watch on the Status of the Artist, containing the most recent data on the state of national legislations, has been developed jointly with ILO and will be in operation at the end of 2004.One of UNESCO’s major programme innovations concerns the promotion of digital arts as a source of economic growth and a vital vector to boost cultural diversity.

The Digi-Arts project is intended for artists and artistic sponsors and sets out to strengthen the potential for expression and exchange in the digital field. Hence Programmes here are designed to permit young artists in developing countries and children and adolescents in all countries to communicate with each other and become acquainted with an interdisciplinary approach linking artistic creativity and computer science.
