Two main activities are being developed in the region:
-A needs and opportunities assessment study is being conducted by two scholars of the Public Policy Research Group (Núcleo de Pesquisa em Políticas Públicas – NP3) of the University of Brasilia. The report will be discussed with municipal officials in the framework of a panel organized by UNESCO during the Ibero-American Congress of Municipal Professionals (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 28 October- 1 November 2002).
The final report will be available in November 2003 on this website.
-In relation to the training component, a partnership is being established with the School of Virtual Governance of the International Institute of Governance (Barcelona, Spain) and the Ibero-American Union of Municipal Professionals (Granada, Spain). Both institutions have a significant experience in distance training for municipal officials and urban decision-makers on issues concerning local development and governance. A distance training specialization module on e-local governance will be launched during the Santo Domingo Congress.
