West African Research Center in Dakar The West African Research Center (WARC) in Dakar, Senegal was founded under the auspices of the West African Research Association (WARA), now headquartered at the Boston University, and the Dakar-based Association de Recherche Ouest Africaine (AROA). WARC is a center for academic exchange between American and West African scholars that encourages research on West Africa. It opened in 1994 and is located near Cheikh Anta Diop University in Fann-Residence.
