The International Advisory Committee (IAC) is appointed by the Director-General of UNESCO to guide the planning and implementation of the Memory of the World Programme as a whole.

The main purpose of the meeting is to review the progress achieved by the Memory of the World Programme and make recommendations to the Director-General concerning the inscription of documentary heritage on the Memory of the World Register, as well as raising funds for the Programme.

The IAC meeting will be preceded by a two-day sub-regional workshop to promote and strengthen MoW in the region and to develop a CARICOM/MoW action plan for 2009-2011.
