In the framework of UNESCO's International Conference and Exhibition on Knowledge Parks in Doha, Qatar, on 29-31 March 2008, Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) is organizing a forum on Entrepreneurship: Transforming the World through Entrepreneurs. Held on 29 March, the GKP Forum will highlight entrepreneurship and social innovation as powerful means of achieving equitable and sustainable socio-economic development.
According to Rinalia Abdul Rahim, GKP Executive Director who will chair the event, the GKP Forum draws on the learning on social entrepreneurship, particularly among youth, as a means to combat persistent global development challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, education and unemployment. "At the Doha Forum, GKP will share 20 ideas to create a world of entrepreneurs and I invite organisations across sectors in the region to work together in partnership to make the ideas a reality for the benefit of global development," she said.

Rinalia Abdul Rahim will also deliver a keynote speech on ICT for Development at the UNESCO Conference on 31 March 2008, together with H.E. Mrs Sheikha Ahmad Al-Mahmoud, Qatar’s Minister of Education.

ICT Creative Industries and Entrepreneurship is one of the focus areas of UNESCO's International Conference and Exhibition on Knowledge Parks. The Conference will look at models of knowledge parks aimed at utilizing ICT to develop skills for young entrepreneurs in order to start IT businesses in the area of creative industries.

Co-organized by UNESCO and the Qatar Foundation, the Conference and the Exhibition will provide a platform for key players around the world to help translate the concept of knowledge societies into concrete solutions for development. They are designed to introduce a spectrum of creative ideas for knowledge parks in the developing world. Therefore, it is an excellent opportunity for industries to be present and to sponsor this event with an eye on partnering with governments, UN agencies, NGO’s and donors to build regional knowledge parks.
