Press freedom and safety of journalists in Zimbabwe

By Geoff Nyarota
Tsvangirai Mukwazhi and his camera are inseparable. He is the leading photo-journalist in Zimbabwe, a country where press freedom has come under growing threat over the past decade, which the safety of journalists has been seriously threatened.

The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) regards Zimbabwe as one of the worst places in the world to be a journalist.

Mukwazhi covers Zimbabwe for a number of news organizations including The Zimbabwe Times (thezimbabwetimes.com), an online news website, and The Associated Press.
