Slaughter in Iraq (20 March 2003 – 20 March 2006)
A total of 86 journalists and media assistants have been killed and 38 have been kidnapped during three years of war.
The war in Iraq has proved to be the deadliest for journalists since World War II. A total of 86 journalists and media assistants1 have been killed in Iraq since the war began on 20 March 2003. This is more than the number killed during 20 years of war in Vietnam or the civil war in Algeria.
